Who is Kevin Kearney?

I met Kevin Kearney in first grade because his mom was my teacher. Although he had Duchenne, he was able to run and play. It seemed as though he was free to do what he wanted. Now, Kevin is an eleven year old boy who rides an elevator to get to another floor of his house. Kevin was diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy at 18 months of age. He has a companion dog named Schmoo. He has trouble walking. He loves video games. Kevin has a great laugh and is very funny.

Why I Chose My Bar Mitzvah Project

My Bar Mitzvah Project is to raise awareness for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD). I chose this as my project because my friend Kevin has DMD. I am going to learn about the ways that Duchenne affects the boy's body. It is going to be upsetting learning about Duchenne but I know it is for a good cause. Though people may know about muscular dystrophy, they may not have heard about DMD. In this blog, you will get an idea of what DMD is, Kevin, who inspired me to do this project, and how I will raise awareness about Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.
